Dr. Roderick Palton
District 31 Acting Superintendent
Dr. Roderick Palton Interim-Acting Superintendent Dr. Roderick Palton is a dedicated educator who joined the District 31 team as Deputy Superintendent in April of 2023. With over a decade of experience in the field of education, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for creating equitable opportunities for all students.
Before taking on his current role, Dr. Palton served as a principal for more than eleven years in Citywide District 75, where he worked tirelessly to support and uplift students with disabilities. His commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in education has been a driving force throughout his career.
Dr. Palton's expertise extends beyond the school building as he also served as a New Principal Coaching Fellow. In this capacity, he provided guidance and mentorship to new and early career principals across multiple districts in the Bronx and Brooklyn, helping them navigate the challenges and responsibilities of educational leadership.
One of Dr. Palton's core missions is to ensure that all students, particularly those who have been marginalized, have access to quality education and opportunities for success. He is enthusiastic about his new role in Staten Island, where he aims to empower students and families, guiding them towards meaningful paths, whether that be employment, enlistment, or enrollment in higher education.
